Privacy notice

Last updated: 24 October 2026

This is general information, not legal advice.

Who we are

Pause to Think is provided in partnership with Empowerment Pathways. The data controller for information collected through this site is Empowerment Pathways Limited (company number 15555659). To protect the safety and privacy of our therapists, we don't publish a business address. This is a deliberate decision. You can reach us at help@pausetothink.co.uk or via WhatsApp.

What we collect

When you contact us through the website form, by email, by phone or by WhatsApp, we receive whatever contact details and message you choose to give us. The website form only asks for an email address or phone number and your message; a name is optional. You're welcome to leave out any detail you're not comfortable sharing.

Our lawful basis for processing your information

For the basic contact details you give us (your email, phone number or name), we rely on legitimate interests, responding to an enquiry you've chosen to make. For any sensitive details you choose to share in your message, for example about your circumstances or wellbeing, we rely on your explicit consent, given by choosing to share that information with us.

How we use it

We use this information only to respond to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to arrange and provide support. We don't use it for marketing, and we don't sell or share it with third parties, except where the law requires us to. See "Confidentiality" in the FAQ on the main page for when that applies.

Data retention period

If you become a client, your records are kept for up to 7 years after your last session, in line with our professional guidance. If you make an enquiry that doesn't lead to therapy, we keep it for up to 12 months. Routine administrative messages that don't form part of a client or enquiry record are generally kept for up to 1 month.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use cookies, analytics, or any third-party tracking scripts. The contact form is handled by our hosting provider, Netlify, and does not use cookies either. Netlify processes form submissions on our behalf as part of providing our hosting; further detail is available at netlify.com/privacy.

ICO registration

Empowerment Pathways is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, reference ZB785040.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. To do this, email help@pausetothink.co.uk.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first at help@pausetothink.co.uk. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Not a crisis or legal advice service

Pause to Think offers confidential therapeutic support. It is not a substitute for legal advice from a solicitor, and not a crisis or emergency service. If you're in crisis or at immediate risk to yourself or someone else, please call 999, or Samaritans free on 116 123, any time.
